Associate Director, Chemistry

Responsibilities of the Associate Director, Chemistry:

  • Build and lead team dedicated to advancing Tome’s genome editing platform
  • Manage oligo chemistry efforts, both in-house and via CRO’s
  • Develop and execute vision for synthesis, purification, and chemical modification strategy for both small (<100 nt) and large (<200 nt) RNAs
  • Develop appropriate in house analytic capabilities
  • Manage external CMO/CRO relationships
  • Experience with GMP CQA and responsible for production/release of large scale material
  • Build, manage and lead a team, including budgeting, goals and timelines

Requirements of the Associate Director, Chemistry:

  • PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or process chemistry, and 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Deep understanding of modern methods in synthetic chemistry with an emphasis on nucleosides, nucleotides and oligonucleotide synthesis, and purification and analytical characterization as applied to nucleic acid therapeutics
  • Knowledge related to oligonucleotide conjugation chemistries
  • Deep understanding of oligo manufacturing, CRO and CMO capabilities, and familiarity with GMP requirements
