Laboratory Automation Engineer

Responsibilities of the Laboratory Automation Engineer:

  • Work with scientists to adapt bench top processes to fully automated workflows through programming and validation of liquid handlers and integrated automation systems.
  • Create actionable plans to reduce operational bottlenecks, increasing throughput and quality of data for existing processes.
  • Create proper documentation and provide hands-on training to end users of all methods developed as well as support for automation related issues.
  • Collaborate with third party vendors to evaluate and implement new technologies that will create cutting edge solutions and contribute to our automation infrastructure.

Requirements of the Laboratory Automation Engineer:

  • BS in molecular biology, computer science or engineering with 5+ years’ laboratory automation experience.
  • Experience with laboratory automation and liquid handlers (i.e. Hamilton, HighRes Biosolutions, Precise Robotics, Tecan, or others).
  • The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and will be comfortable working with samples in a high throughput manner (Next Generation Sequencing experience is preferred).
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), particularly Benchling.
