Principal Scientist, Immune Assays

Responsibilities of the Principal Scientist, Immune Assays:

  • Experience with indication-specific literature, assays, and pre-clinical models for testing and validation of novel drug candidates
  • Supervise and participate in viral vector validation and testing of functional therapeutic proteins in relevant preclinical models, including procurement and design
  • Aid in establishing, troubleshooting and utilizing preclinical models for the relevant program indication
  • Clone and test expression constructs for therapeutic proteins
  • Independently design and conduct experiments, present data during team meetings and provide input on team member’s work
  • Support training and mentorship and hiring of junior staff
  • Contribute to the development of analytical assays and pre-clinical evaluation of novel gene therapy vectors
  • Contribute to experimental design, execution, data analysis and presentation
  • Efficiently interact with CROs and external collaborators
  • Contribute effectively to drafting and supporting patent applications, national and international meeting presentation, reports, and scientific publications

Requirements of the Principal Scientist, Immune Assays:

  • M.S. with 7+ years, or PhD with 3+ years in molecular biology, cell biology, virology, immunology, or related discipline required and experience in a biopharmaceutical or biotechnology company
  • Demonstrated record of scientific achievement (strong publication and/or patent record)
  • Proven ability to establish and troubleshoot molecular biology techniques
  • Experience with gene therapy or cell therapy is strongly preferred
  • Laboratory skills required for the position include biochemical analysis, molecular biology techniques, cell culture experience and experience in developing bioanalytical immune assays including ELISAs, qPCR, ddPCR and others.
  • Experience isolating and manipulating high-quality nucleic acids from primary tissues/cells (RNA/DNA) after in vivo and in vitro transduction.
