Science Writer/Grant Writer

Responsibilities of the Science/Grant Writer:

  • Developing high-quality scientific and technical communication materials.
  • Identifying and pursuing funding opportunities.
  • Expertly crafting NIH/NSF/DoD SBIR grant proposals.
  • Collaborate with the research team.
  • Prepare manuscripts, publications and presentations.
  • Effectively communicate complex scientific findings to biomaterials and regenerative medicine professionals, as well as to to investors and the broader public.


Requirements of the Science/Grant Writer:

  • PhD in biomaterials, tissue engineering, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success in grant writing, particularly with NIH, NSF, and DoD SBIR programs, reflecting a deep understanding of the biomaterials sector.
  • A substantial record as a first author in high-impact scientific publications, showcasing expertise in scientific communication.
  • Proficiency in translating intricate scientific concepts in biomaterials and related areas to various audiences.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in document and presentation formatting using PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong competency in statistical analysis within the biomedical research domain.
  • Experience in project management is an added advantage.
  • Previous work in regenerative medicine or tissue engineering is highly beneficial.
  • Certifications in scientific communication or medical writing from organizations like AMWA or EMWA are valuable, though not essential.
