Responsibilities of the Senior Scientist, Bioinformatics (NGS):

• Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines and algorithms for the analysis of plasmid sequencing data, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and reproducibility.
• Perform quality control assessments of sequencing data, identify and troubleshoot issues, and provide recommendations for process improvements.
• Utilize existing bioinformatics tools and software to analyze and annotate plasmid sequences, identifying genetic variations, gene functions, and potential functional implications.
• Collaborate closely with the molecular biology and sequencing teams to design experiments, provide guidance on sample preparation, and optimize sequencing protocols.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of data analysis workflows, incorporating new technologies and methodologies as appropriate.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in bioinformatics and genomics research, proactively applying new knowledge to enhance data analysis capabilities.

Requirements of the Senior Scientist, Bioinformatics (NGS):

• PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field.
• 3+ years industry experience working with NGS data. Nanopore experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of molecular biology concepts, genomics, and genetics, particularly in the context of plasmids.
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python, R, or Perl.
• Experience with bioinformatics tools, databases, and software packages commonly used for sequence analysis (e.g., BLAST, Bowtie, SAMtools, BEDTools).
• Familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and data analysis pipelines.
