Associate Scientist/Scientist – Nanoparticle Formulation & Process Development
Boston, MA
Research & Development
Position located in Boston, MA
Responsibilities:
- Design, prepare, and optimize nanoparticle formulations, including lipid-based and polymeric systems.
- Perform formulation screening studies to evaluate performance across key parameters (e.g., composition, ratios, process conditions).
- Operate and optimize nanoparticle manufacturing platforms, with a preference for microfluidic mixing technologies; experience with impinging jet mixing or other rapid-mixing methods is a plus.
- Support downstream process development activities, including buffer exchange, dialysis, tangential flow filtration (TFF), concentration, sterile filtration, and fill/finish preparation.
- Contribute to the design and execution of bioconjugation strategies, including conjugation of antibodies, peptides, ligands, or polymers to nanoparticles or their components.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, maintain detailed records, and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, analytical, and manufacturing teams to advance programs from early development through scale-up.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- Must have 3+ years experience with nanoparticle formulation development (lipid nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles, or similar systems).
- Working knowledge of nanoparticle characterization techniques (e.g., DLS for size/PDI, encapsulation assays, stability testing).
- Experience supporting downstream processing workflows such as TFF, dialysis, or sterile filtration.
- Understanding of bioconjugation techniques; hands-on experience strongly preferred.
