Position located in San Francisco, CA

We are seeking an experienced Optical Systems Engineer to lead the design, integration, and optimization of optical subsystems for advanced hardware platforms. This role is responsible for the full system lifecycle, from concept and architecture through prototyping, validation, and manufacturing support.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop integrated optical systems, including illumination, detection, filtering, and signal acquisition.
• Optimize system performance, focusing on signal quality, stability, calibration, and long-term reliability.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration.
• Lead component selection, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Develop technical documentation and support scalable, manufacturable designs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Must have 2+ years experience developing and delivering optical systems for commercial or industrial applications.
• Strong understanding of optical design, detection principles, and system-level engineering.
• Experience integrating optical, mechanical, and electrical components in complex products.
• Hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
