Questions? We’ve Got Answers!
For Job Seekers
How does the hiring process work?
- Submit your resume and application.
- Complete an initial screening interview with a Commonwealth Healthcare recruiter.
- Schedule an interview with the hiring facility.
- Sign a contract or offer letter, depending on the type of hire:
- Contract Hire: Undergo background checks, license verification, and health screenings facilitated by Commonwealth Healthcare.
- Direct Hire: These processes are completed by the hiring facility.
What is the difference between direct hire and contract hire?
- Direct Hire: You become a permanent employee of the facility or organization, receiving full benefits directly from them.
- Contract Hire: You work for a set duration (typically 13 weeks, though this can vary, and extensions are often available) through Commonwealth Healthcare, which handles your pay and any benefits offered. Both local and travel contracts are available. Connect with one of our recruiters to explore the best option for you.
Can I take time off during a contract?
Time off must be pre-approved by the facility during contract negotiations.
Can I specialize in a specific area of healthcare?
Yes, you can request assignments or roles aligned with your specialty, such as ICU, pediatrics, geriatrics, outpatient, or community health.
Do I need to be licensed in the state where I work?
Yes, you must hold an active license in the state where the facility is located. If you are working in a compact state, a multistate license is acceptable, provided your permanent residence is in the same state as your compact license.
